Top 10 Article Directories

Someone recently asked me to name some good reputable article directories to help increase a site’s PageRank (PR). So here is my answer. The 10 article directories I most often use are:

Submitting articles to article directories can be an effective method to building backlinks for you site, but it is rather time consuming.  Please note that many of the top article directories check your article to ensure that it is unique before approving it for posting on their sites. EzineArticles, has a reputation for being a stickler about the uniqueness of an article. Though, I must say I have not had a single article’s approval denied or had an article removed. It make take some time up to several days, to get an article approved on some of these article directories. While others like GoArticles, approve submissions almost immediately.

Make sure to add a link directly to you site in the resource box or author’s bio. Also, don’t forget to have at least one with anchor text that matches the keyword(s) you are using for your article.

There are 10’s if not 100’s of other article directories out there these are just the one’s that I have seen recommended often and thus starting using myself.  If you have an article directory that you prefer that was not mentioned, add a comment so the community can check it out.

Joe, I've always thought of links as currency. The better the link (the more relevant and authoritative) the more the links are worth. How would you value links from these article directories?

BTW – Thanks for the good content. I like your SEO approach :)

Sean, I agree and originally I had included PageRank (PR) of each directory, next to the link but they were removed, due to a formatting issue I was having with the post. With that said, the directories are listed in order from highest PR at the top TheFreeLibrary has a PR7, the following 2 directories are PR6, then from iSnare to ArticleAlley are all PR5 the last 2 directories are only PR3s but I use them due to their easier submission rules which allows you to get link juice a little quicker.
